Flower Girl, Varanasi.

Varanasi is the one of the most important cities inthe Hindu Universe. Every day thousands of pilrims from all over India come to wash away their sins and perform a puga (worship). The woman in this image is a flower seller. She spends most of her time at three of the ghats on the river selling smal offerings for the pilgrims. This consists of flowers, a candle and a small amount of food in a little paper bowl which is meant to be released into the rivers currents. She was always beautifully dressed and always had a far away look in her eyes which fascinated me.
