Pandanus branches from below.
West Coast, Fraser Island.

If you walk along the beach on either East or West Coast of Fraser Island you would eventually come across one of 3 different species of Pandanus living here. The stems produce prop roots that grow at an angle and enter the sandy soil. These anchor the tree and give stability.
